Challah for Hunger

What is Challah for Hunger? An international not for profit organization that promotes awareness and provides assistance for global hunger and disaster relief through sales from baked challot, the traditional Jewish egg bread.  The UW-Madison chapter is a registered student group that will bake almost 100 loaves each week and proceeds from the weekly challah baking go to the AJWS's Sudan Relief and Advocacy Fund as well as a organization of the group's choosing.

Where and when do students meet?  Students meet in the Hillel kitchen (2nd floor) on Thursdays.  Mixing takes place from 2:30pm-3:30pm and Braiding happens from 5:30pm-6:30pm

How does a student get involved? The best way to join Challah for Hunger is to volunteer! You email the challah for hunger crew to add your name to future volunteer email sign ups.

Don’t have time to volunteer? Help us out by spreading the word to friends and buying some delicious homemade challah! To be guaranteed a challah, purchases can be made on Hillel’s website and pick up will be Friday mornings at Hillel.
